~Smile of a White Wolf~
It is here in which I lied my eyes on it,
In this land of the lonely snow,
Where branches are frozen, like crystal...
Mountains that have taken many lifes,
Hide there dangers under the purity of white,
And the winds blow with out mercy,
Pirceing the souls of any who step onto these lands,
These lands of unquestionable beauty...
Stunned, shocked, and amazed,
Standing in this graveyard of dead trees,
I see it, coming, walking through the heart of this blizzard...
A wolf, of the purest white, that almost flickers silver from the moonlight,
Comes towards me, as I stand, feeling its mystical aura,
But as it comes closer, I see its beauty is faulter,
As a crimsom red, flows down its coat, dropping around its footsteps...
It slowly comes to a stop, and stares up,
I follow its stare up, through the branches, up into the sky,
To a moon, fully golden, and alone...
My eyes slowly come back to the wolf,
Who falls to the ground, without a sound,
And lies there, half breathing, half living,
Till its shadow becomes hidden,
Under the river of red that slowly flows from it...
I walk over, without thought or fear, to the wolf,
Kneeling down and placing its head on my lap,
Touching its coat, feeling it getting colder and colder...
Its eyes, one of white and one of gold,
Continued to look up at the full moon,
Without weaver or blink,
Trying to take in its last image...
My eyes are suprised though, at what they now see,
A smile, a small but happy smile,
Slowly buliding as it looks up at the lonely moon...
With its last breath, it rises its head up and howls,
A howl that seems to ring through the crystal ice of the trees,
Sounding a beautiful melody, echoing through the land,
But it slowly fades away, as the wolf's head, slowly falls,
And its eyes become a thing of the past, for this world...
Why...why did it smile, what was it smiling for,
I kneel there, asking that same question over and over,
As I continued to stare at the now, cold wolf...
I gently placed its head on the snow, and stood up,
Staring up at the moon, through the blizzard's winds,
Before finally walking away, leaving the snow cover, hiding the wolf,
With its eyes, appearing in my mind....why....
